Pondicherry Civil Service: Eligibility, Recruitment &Training, and Salary Grade – Important Things to Note for 2021

The Pondicherry Civil Service Group B is administered centrally. Just like Andaman & Nicobar, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and the Delhi Police Service. Successful selected candidates will be appointed to Pondicherry Civil Service Posts and shall be governed by the Pondicherry Civil Service Rules of 1967.

Appointments are made for two years on probation, which can be extended. Candidates who are appointed on probation will undergo training and departmental pass tests as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Pondicherry might prescribe.

Recruitment and Training

The initial recruitment of the Pondicherry civil service officer is through the Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC every year. 

Candidates have to emerge successful in all three rounds of UPSC civil service examination by attempting them. After success in the prelims, mains and the interview round, candidates have to check if they are shortlisted in the final list.  

Training

Appointments are made for two years on probation, which can be extended. Candidates who are appointed on probation will undergo training and departmental pass tests as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Pondicherry might prescribe. 

If the work or conduct of an Officer on probation period is unsatisfactory to become efficient, the Administrator may discharge him instantly or may revert him to his substantive post.  

Officers are governed by Pondicherry Civil Service Rules, 1967 and other regulations may be made, or instructions must be issued by the Administrator to give effect to those rules.
