“Sustainability is no longer about doing less harm. It’s about doing more good.” – Jochen Zeitz
Electric Vehicle Market is expected to hit more than the 65-lakh unit mark yearly by 2030, as expressed by India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA). There has been a consistent push for electric vehicles and local innovation by PM Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. The ‘Ola Future Factory’ will be a significant transporter of this vision.
Recently, Ola Electric had declared that the organization is building a super plant on a 500-acre of the land region. In December, it had marked a ₹2,400-crore MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to foster the world’s most giant assembling plant for scooters. The land obtained for the plant was finished in January this year and the development work started by late February. This ‘Ola Future Factory’ will be functional by 2022.
The plant has 500 acres of land with a uber block structure spread more than 43 acres of land. As per an assertion from Ola, at the total limit, the office will produce one scooter every two seconds bringing about the yearly production of 10 million vehicles which will be 20% of the current worldwide scooter limit. The 500-acre of land site will make it the world’s single most giant Electric scooter production plant on the earth. Striving towards sustainability, Ola Electric says that there will be 100 acres of forest cover around the industrial facility, assembling activities running via solar-powered technology and sustainable power covering 2 acres of forest inside the manufacturing plant. Considering the environmental changes, the organization focuses on carbon-negative activities in their processing plant.
Ola future manufacturing plant would create employment for 10,000 people. The production line will be 90% computerized with 3000 robots for accuracy in assembling the ola electric scooter in India. Ola has picked ABB Robotics as one of its vital accomplices for robotizing its uber production line project. The ABB Automation Robots are coordinated into Ola’s artificial insights plant to upgrade execution, efficiency, and item quality.
Ola needs to claim the whole EV esteem chain-directly from designing, production, and the deals of electric vehicles. It is starting with its ola electric scooters and anticipates building Electric cars later on. This production unit in Tamil Nadu will have everything from a battery producing unit to distributor stations. A test track will also be situated inside the processing plant. Ola said it had planned, designed, and will make its batteries, engines, charging and engine regulators, and the product that resolve scooters, helping hold the expenses down. Additionally, the plant will house a different battery production unit that Ola will work.
On Independence Day, Ola Electric has dispatched its electric scooter — base variation S1 and top-model S1 Pro — at the cost of Rs.1 lakh and Rs.1.3 lakh, respectively. With state endowments, the price is even lower. The base variation Ola S1 will cost Rs.79,999 in Gujarat, Rs.85,099 in Delhi, Rs.89,968 in Rajasthan, and Rs.94,999 in Maharashtra. In July, Ola Electric had opened pre-bookings of its electric scooters for Rs 499 and had gotten 1 lakh orders in only 24 hours. The scooter comes in 10 tones with an 8.5 KW engine and 3.97 kWh battery packs.
On September 13, 2021, Ola co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal said that women would run the electric scooter industrial facility, and OLA would employ more than 10,000 women at full scale. He tweeted, “Aatmanirbhar Bharat requires Aatmanirbhar women! Glad to share that the Ola Future factory will be handled ENTIRELY by women, 10,000+ at full scale! It’ll be the biggest all-women plant on the planet!!”. He likewise shared a video including the primary batch of women recruited to work at the unit. “We have contributed fundamentally to prepare and upskill them in assembling abilities, and they will be responsible for the whole production of each vehicle made at Ola Future factory. Empowering ladies with financial freedoms work to facilitate their own lives, families, and society. The truth is that simply giving ladies equality in the workforce can develop India’s GDP by 27%,” he added.
Around 30%-40% of the production will be reserved for trades across Europe, the U.K, America, Australia, and New Zealand. Ola tries to change itself from being a mobility supplier to a player in planning a minimal cost electric vehicle, placing it in the international market and demonstrating itself on Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc.
